I have done extensive research and there have been many arguements about who the best IX clan there during Tribes 1. Boosters were effective for Assaults and the Turrets worked very well. The EMP grenades had a limited distance and duration.
I agree with Manitou that 9.D was the best version of Insomniax. combining a tribal percussion line (with, you guessed it, woodblocks) with some tasty mid bass growls and some excellent. It is great to see the input from the old guard who have been around for almost 3 years. I was still proving myself to the IX community and honing my skill to be part of a IX clan. I was not with V3 yet when CDL faught V3. They didn't even think of half of this ****, they thought everyone was going to need an APC to get from one base to the other. The first mod in the UltraXL lineage is the StarSiege/Tribes modification, Insomniax. classic Tribes 1 and Rainbow Six Insomniax Mods and a few maps here and there every game modification bearing the Insomniax name has been made by me.

They didn't patch out nade jumping, they didn't patch out air mines, they didn't patch out people getting good with the shield pack, they didn't patch out beacon stops. It's not mentioned often but developers just need to leave a game the **** alone after awhile, and that helped tribes a lot. Visionary design (or just dumb luck) the Tribes game model is still valid today. Tribes is relatively "open" in the software sense.
